Call for Volunteers

Volunteering with us means developing new skills, sharing your love of libraries with others, and making new friends. We constantly review applications and match applicants with a suitable volunteer role.

Volunteering does not automatically improve your chances of getting a job at the Library. Experience, including volunteer experience, is considered when reviewing employment applications.

Please note that adult volunteers must supply a criminal record check and all volunteers go through the interview process.

Your Library Board Needs You!

Lac La Biche County Library Board is responsible for the management of our two sites located at the Bold Center (The Stuart MacPherson Public Library) and at École Plamondon (The Plamondon Municipal Library) plus pop up library locations. We serve the entire Lac La Biche County, including our surrounding indigenous communities.

Our Board Members share the following characteristics:

  • Belief in the importance of libraries and commitment to the vision and mission.
  • Willingness to serve, and to sit on one or more Board committees as required.
  • Skill or knowledge in one or more areas of Board governance: policy, program, personnel, finance or advocacy.

Ten committed board members volunteer their time and talent to ensure that we fulfill our responsibilities under the Libraries Act in support of library staff providing quality services to the community.  We meet up to six evenings yearly at the Bold Center location for about 3 hours.  Using our community-based Plan of Service we measure progress and make decisions regarding use of physical, fiscal, and human resources to meet library member needs.

If you would like to become a member of a dynamic, community focused organization – we want to hear from you! We can offer a meaningful role as an active Board Member and the chance to help ensure your community continues to enjoy great library programs and services.
