What's Going on at LLBCL – Jan 6th Edition

Do you like science fiction, fantasy, steampunk, comics, gaming, or anime? Then come join us at our annual Library Con taking place on Saturday, January 11th from 11-3:30pm. So don your cape, grab your mask, jump in your TARDIS and enjoy the activities for all ages. Drawn To Books will be bringing more than 500 comics for people to browse through for purchase. There will be new comic books, graphic novels, manga and more will be available with 20% of our sales being donated back to the library. Check out the link under our events listing on our website and Facebook to see the titles and if you see something you MUST have, you can contact us to reserve your copy! Other Vendors include: T.K. Boomer, Blue Cave Workshop, InfiniTea & Jailyn Corbin Fine Arts.

Preschool Partner Programs (Library, Parent Link and Alberta Health Services)

  • Rattle and Chat (ages 0-17 months) runs on Wednesdays Jan 8-Feb 12th from 10:30-11:30am in the Wild Rose Room. No registration required.
  • Read and Roll (ages 3 or 4) runs on Thursdays starting on Feb 20th at 1:00pm and registration is required.
  • Rattle and Read (ages 0 - 17months) runs on Wednesday Feb 19 & 26th from 10:30-11:30am in the main library. No registration required.
  • Chicka Chicka Book Club (ages 18-35 months) runs on Wednesday Feb 19 & Feb 26th in the Wild Rose Room and registration is required.
2020 Winter Reading Club. All ages are welcome to participate in the Winter Reading Club. Track every minute spent reading for the months of January and February for a chance to amazing prizes! To ensure your chance to win, please fill in our online Winter Reading Log which is available on our home page under the quick links and is due on or before by March 1st.

Steampunkery: A STEAM Program will be held on select Wednesdays from 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM. Upcoming projects include:
  • Jan 15th - Magic the Gathering/Dungeons and Dragons
  • Jan 29th - Stop animation video
  • Feb 26th - Ice Making

Rhyme Time is held on Thursdays in the Wild Rose Room staring at 10:30am. This free drop in partner program between the Lac La Biche County Libraries and Parent Link is designed for ages 0 to 5 and no registration is required.

Other upcoming events:
  • Global Game Jam will be held in Lac La Biche for the first time in LLB from Friday, Jan 31st starting at 6:00pm and running straight through Sunday, Feb 2nd
  • 2020 LEGO Competition will be held on Saturday, Feb 8th from 10-3pm
  • Ladies Night for ages 13 and up will be held on Friday, Feb 28th from 6-10pm and registration is required
  • Health and Wellness Fair table registration is now open for the event on Thursday, Mar 12th from 4-6:30pm
