To support library members with print disabilities, the Government of Alberta has provided funding for public libraries to participate in both CELA (the Centre for Equitable Library Access) and NNELS (the National Network of Equitable Library Service).

CELA: Our patron print disabled library members can sign up for service with CELA through the the Lac La Biche County libraries. CELA’s collections include more than 230,000 audio books, described video, magazines, and newspapers in the patron's format of choice, along with tactile materials for early learners and braille children's books. Included within this is access to the licensed 160,000 copyright-cleared titles in Bookshare, the world's largest online library of accessible reading materials. Bookshare is an American organization that works with publishers to produce accessible versions of both new releases and older titles. Options for delivery of CELA materials include direct download to computer/handheld devices or DAISY, CD and braille mailed to the patron’s home.

Both branches of Lac La Biche County Libraries have local collections of Daisy materials including Daisy CDs, Victor Readers and braille books that library members can access. For more information regarding this service, please contact the main branch at (780) 623-7467.

NNELS is an on-line digital repository of accessible formats that is being built by user demand. It provides accessible library service for people with print disabilities in digital formats. NNELS is live to any eligible person that wants access in the Province of Alberta. A user simply needs to click "sign up" in the top Right Hand corner at www.nnels.ca, indicate which is their local library, and follow the steps to get started. The Public Library Services Branch (PLSB) is working with NNELS to eventually authenticate patrons through Polaris.
